My University Life

The university is more than a collection of buildings and classrooms; it is a culturally rich environment where teaching, learning and socialization take place. The university is a society where students, teachers and administrators work together for a common purpose. As an international student living on campus, it is another effective way to adapt to the university atmosphere. Additionally, the campus is also a good place where students are able to share knowledge together willingly and objectively without any biases, fear or favor.
The main reason for going to university is to get an academic qualification. Personally, I think that the social side of things and development of a person are equally important. The good thing about university life is that you are left to your own intuition to think and act, unlike in junior or senior high school where you are told what to do and how to do it. University life makes it easy to socialize and meet new friends.
Our Campus facilities are really great for the international students to live happily and have fruitful study life. Facilities of this university are good enough for healthy and comfortable living. Students can enjoy their leisure time playing lots of indoor and outdoor games. The university also provides gym facilities to the students at a very cheap cost compared to outside gyms. The bookish students can as well pass their time productively in a well furnished and stuffed library. Our University library has a huge collection of English and different language books. The library is full of modern facilities where students can have successful and fruitful learning time. Every class room is well decorated and fully supported by modern technology. Teachers are helpful and friendly to the students. For the international students especially, teachers are very supportive and always give extra concern to our welfare.
On the campus, students could form their clubs to help them contact each other easily and do a lot of activities. If a student has any problems, about anything, there is student counseling available in the university, where they try and help remedy the situation as much as possible. Our University also has a club for the international students called International Student Club (ISC). I am quite involved in International Student Club (ISC) right from the word go. I wanted to do something that was still outside my course so I could meet new people and learn more from them due to our different cultural background. I got involved in the welfare side of things. It is a students’ chance to say, “I don't like the way this is being done, let’s change it!” I'm never the type to sit around and complain about things going waywardly wayward. If something is bad, I want to change it and that is what the International Student Club (ISC) does. I have found it very rewarding, not only with helping other students through university life but also as an extra-curricular activity. Because of our club activities we have greatly improved our leadership abilities.
In addition, what I want to say about our esteemed and great university is that, just by living on campus alone, I start to feel that I am the member of this wonderful place, especially when I am spearheading some activities on the campus as a leader of our International Student Club (ISC). By this, I feel really proud to be a student of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE).
