On behalf of all the International Students studying in YUFE, fivestudents joined this meeting and discussed about the problems international students are facing currently. Below are the questions students’ representatives asked the president and the responses they received:
在开“我与校长面对面的座谈会”时，留学生会派了5位同学代表留学生去跟校长汇报留学生在校内碰到的一些问题。下面是留学生的问题和校长的回答。
Q1.There isn’t any washing machine provided by school in International students’ dormitory. The students have to go to HuiHua Yuan to wash their clothes which have been a difficult task for many international students on campus. Can the university provide washing machines in international students’ dormitory?
Response: The president of YUFE agreed to provide washing machines in international students’ dormitory as soon as possible. He further promised to treat this issue with utmost importance.
On the 2017/12/15 at 11:00am an inspection team lead by the Director of International Student Education and Administration Office (YUFE-ISEAO) Dr. Jin Guoxin went to HAN HUA YUAN and see what can be done in the earliest possible time.
问题1:由于国际学生公寓（涵华苑）没有配备洗衣机，所以住在涵华苑的同学如果想洗衣服，得要拿衣服到荟华苑去洗，有些不太方便。请问学校能否在国际学生公寓（涵华苑）安装洗衣机？
回答：校长同意了该项提议，答应尽快解决国际学生公寓（涵华苑）洗衣机的配备问题。2017年12月15日早上11:00 时，国际学生教育管理中心主任金国兴与其他相关领导到涵华苑进行了实地勘察，提出会及早为学生解决该问题。

Q2.Our university has country side research programs (a program under which officials, doctors, scientist and college students go to the countryside to spread scientific and literacy knowledge and offer medical service to farmers). International students also would like to take part in such research programs to get to know more about china and as well as give back to society. Can the school give international students the opportunity to participate in such programs?
Response: President said they will look into this matter, and if there is any possibility to integrate international student on it, they will give us that opportunity. Also he ordered Youth League Committee to see if there are countryside program on which international students canbe integrated in.
问题2:我们学校有个项目：“三下乡项目”（它的目标是派学生到农村传播科学、文化知识、给农民提供体格检查服务）。如果参与到该项目中，留学生可以了解到中国的各个方面，让我们所学的知识得到实际应用，请问学校能否给留学生会些机参与这项目？
回答：由于该项目涉及政策问题，学校会酌情考虑留学生的参与问题。同时请团委的老师看看可否有其他项目能让留学生也参与进去。
Q3.Our university’s library website is in Chinese which make very difficult for international students who study in English or students who can’t speak Chinese to get access to relevant information. We request university to make an English version of library website so that it will be easier for international students to access information during their research towards their thesis writing.
Response:In response the president vehemently support the idea of having English version to the library website, and immediately ordered the Head of Library to make an English version of library website by April 2018.
The next day after meeting with university president, the vice director of International Student Education and Administration Office (YUFE-ISEAO) Mr. Xi Xiao Jin, the President of International Students Club Mr. Khalifa Ababacar Sy Diop, the Secretary General of International Students Club Mr.kasakara Mudiyanselage Dilshan Maduranga Bandara on 2017/12/15 at 2:30PMwas accompanied by a group of International student to the Library to have a discussion with the Director and the different Managers of the library of YUFE on how to create English version of the library page to meet the need of international students.
问题3：“我们学校的网站都是中文的，对于学习英语或不会中文的留学生来说查找信息非常困难，我们提出可否请学校制作一个英文版本，这样留学在写论文查找资料的时候会比较方便。
回答：校长非常支持制作英文版图书馆网页，请图书馆领导尽快完成英文版网页的建设。
座谈会的第二天，2017年12月15日下午2：30，国际学生教育管理中心副主任石晓晶老师，留学生会主席卡尔，留学生会秘书长迪尔山，受邀参观了图书馆，并与图书馆各个部门老师讨论有哪些书留学生需要图书馆翻译成英文版。

The below five resolutions were agreed from the discussion:
1. Connects the English documents store of the YUFE library to English web page of the school.
2. The university library management should buy and install up to date books which are presently not available on their site. Also, the library management should subscribe to open access journal sites to enable students have access to wider variety of academic materials.
3. Expensive but relevant books that maybe needed by the international students of YUFE should be requested for from the international students club (ISC) on or before the 30th of every month. Such information should be forwarded to library management for consideration by the ISC.Contact persons from the ISC are; Ms Fathimath Sathia (VP ISC),Mobile number: 155 5962 3377orMr. Kasakara Mudiyanselage Dilshan Maduranga Bandara (Secretary General), Mobile number: 132 9496 0960.
4. Upon recommendation from the ISC, the library management agreed to create a mobile phone application (APP) for YUFE online library through which both the international and Chinese students can easily have access to the university library.
5. The library management agreed that in case an international student wants to help them to divide the books in different categories then they will seek the help of those students to do that. Under this corporation some books can be bought in different languages (Arabic, Thai, Laos, Vietnam, French…) then classification of those books and an abstract translation for international and Chinese students will be helpful.

下面5个问题是图书馆已同意给予解决。
1. 学校的图书馆要把英文文档跟学校的网站连接在一起。
2. 学校图书馆需购置一些急缺的图书，同时也开个杂志网站，让学生有机会获得更多的学术资料。

4. 此外，图书馆考虑开发手机应用，这样不管是留学生或者是中国学生都能使用，并且还很方便。
5. 图书馆还将把不同种类的书分类归总，如果留学生愿意协助的话也会请他们帮忙一起来做。这样不同语种的书就可以给有不同语言需求的学生使用：阿拉伯语、泰语、老挝语、越南语、法语等。。。这样不仅是对留学生有好处，对一些学习外语的中国同学都很有帮助。
Q4.School has informed us that our December-January allowance will be paid in December. February’s allowance will be paid at the end of March. We are afraid that it is too late, as there are students who spend their winter vacation in our school, so in February they will have no money to spend on daily expenses.
In response to that the International Student Education and Administration Office (YUFE-ISEAO) agreed to give students December and January allowance together by the end of December and February Allowance will be given in January before the break of the School Administration. That because they can’t send more than two month together.
MOFCOM scholarship students should address the issue of February allowance to IBS Administration, which IBS administration is ready to help with.
问题4:学校是把12月和1月份的生活费在12月一起发，2月份的生活费会在3月份一起发，这样的话假期有一部分留校的同学在2月份可能就没钱用了。
回答：国际学生教育管理中心主任（YUFE-ISEAO）已同意把12与1月份的生活份一起在12月份底一起发，2月份的生活费在1月份放假之前发，正因为学校不能发超过2个月的生活费。
Q5.Many of the students in our school comes from tropical countries. For us, the winter in Kunming is cold. But we don’t dare to open heater or use hot water due to the high price for electricity and hot water bills. Can the university reduce the price for electricity and water?
Response: The electricity and water bill in our University is set by the resources administrative office，it’s not like the communities outside, it's not easy to reduce the bill. If electricity is used to lead to poor living conditions, the school may contact the student office to arrange appropriate work-study programs to subsidize living expenses.
问题5: 大部分的留学生来自热带国家，对于的我们来说昆明的冬天比较寒冷，但是因为水费和电费较高，我们不敢开暖气或用热水，学校能减下水费与电费吗？
回答：学校的水费和电费跟一般生活用水用电费用比已经不可同日而语，这个是学校资产处规定好的，不是个人说降就能随意降的。如果因用电用水导致生活拮据，学校可以联系学生处安排留学生进行适当的勤工助学，补贴生活费用。
Q6.Due to the law and regulations by Chinese government, foreign students aren’t allowed to work in china. This lead to inexperience students’ graduate. This is a serious matter for students as employers will look for experienced people when hiring. Therefore international students request the president to give them opportunities to get working experience while studying in China, by considering international student when they are planning the university yearly research projects. In such programs the international student can have research experience as well can be in touch with different level of people.
Response: There is a legal rule that forbids foreign students to take part time or full time job and such rule can't be violated, however the university will try its best based on actual condition to make arrangements for international Students to take part in internal internship and research project of YUFE.
问题6:因为中国的法律是禁止外国留学生在中国工作的，所以没有工作经验的话快要毕业的同学怕会因此影响到他们找工作的机会，因为现在招聘的公司，他们主要要看的是你是否有经验，不管你从多好的太阳集团1088vip毕业出来，但如果没有经验。他们会先考虑有经验了的人再来考虑你，这对于留学生来说是非常大的问题，因此，留学生请求校长快要毕业了的同学，学校能不能找机会给他们实习？
回答：禁止留学生打工这个问题确实是法律规定，不可以违反。但是一些校内实习和项目研究学校会根据实际情况进行考虑安排。
Q7.Currently French students don’t have any scholarship. But they would like to apply for scholarship.
Response: French students are here for exchange program. While they are studying in this program they can’t apply for any scholarship. But after they complete this program they can apply for scholarship. Following are ways students can get more information on how to apply for scholarships:
Ø Contact with Chinese embassy in France to know about scholarships provided by china to France
Ø Follow our school and check when to apply for scholarships. There are three types of scholarships they could apply:
*Chinese government scholarship
*Yunnan Government Scholarship
*MBA-Master’s program in Business School
问题7:目前法国留学生没有奖学金，可他们非常希望能申请到奖学金？
回答：法国留学生到我们学校都是交换生，如果是交换生就不能申请任何奖学金，但如果他们结束了这交换生，他们才能申情任何奖学金。
下面是信息与学生申请方式奖学金。
可以在法国的中国大使馆联系与了解中国提供的奖学金 中国-法国。
关注与检查什么时候能申请奖学金，奖学金分成三种类。
-中国政府奖学金。
-云南省政府奖学金。
-云南财经太阳集团1088vip商学院MBA中心工商管理硕士奖学金。
In conclusion the president sincerely said that they will do their best to support international students’ researches, activities and programs. He further said that they university will try their best to make international student life more comfortable in china, provided that all the international students also give their best to school.
最后校长说学校会尽量的把留学生请求的事情能做的赶紧把它做好，学校会尽量给留学生提供更好的生活和学校条件，也希望留学生能够在学习上更加努力，达到来中国留学的目的。
